How to Avoid the Top 5 Mistakes First-Time Network Marketers Make

There’s no doubt you’re prone to make a few mistakes as most first-time marketers do, but the amazing thing about it all is you have the power to learn from the mistakes of others so that history doesn’t repeat itself. In network marketing, plan B is a must for when things don’t go as planned.
Below are some of the most common mistakes first-time network marketers make.
1. LACK OF DEVOTION:
Many first-time network marketers come into the field with a traditional business market state of mind and a 9-5 mentality.  In order to fully succeed in network marketing, it’s all about the commitment, devotion, organization and undivided attention you will need to provide for your business to grow exponentially.
Although the upfront investment to purchase the product or sample kit is extremely lower than the traditional business, but you will need to put your business and marketing skills into play and pronto!
If you commit yourself to attend as many conference calls, events, seminars and product demos to name a few, then you are on the right track to success!

2. LACK OF ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS:

It is crucial that you make the time to be organized; here I show you how to efficiently manage your time.
When it comes to organization, we are all born with our unique DNA, and perhaps some of us inherit organization genes. Regardless of our genetic inheritance, we all have the ability to acquire some level of organizational skills. It is not necessary to go to extremes to keep yourself organized, but being well prepared and then diligently following through will help make each task easier and more efficient, which will result in better time management. Remember time is money!
Like success, being organized comes over time. Your desired result must be crystal clear before you can prepare for it.

3. CHOOSING THE WRONG COMPANY:

Always make sure to be well informed with a thorough due diligence.
To do so, start by researching the company profile to make sure the company is financially stable.  If possible, set up a meeting with the management team to determine their integrity, management style and track record.
Don’t disregard the compensation plan. Walk away from fast-money making programs, better yet, run, run fast from these type of programs. Nine out of ten times, these type of network marketing schemes will make a huge hole in your pocket.
Now let’s talk about the products…  now is the perfect time to put that old saying into action: “preach what you teach! “You should always feel comfortable using the product you are selling to friends, family and acquaintances, and the product being offered should have real world value and not be over-priced.

4. A LACKLUSTER PROSPECT LIST:

Building positive relationships is key to your success in this field. Not having a full prospect list is a huge failure due to the fact that your new network marketing business is all about prospect sponsoring.
To begin, start populating a list with the obvious; friends and family. Then gradually start adding the first 50 people that come up to mind who might be interested in your business.
Believe me, soon enough the prospect list will be endless once you start reaching out to friends and family because they have friends, family and acquaintances as well.
Still in need of prospects? Join the gym, hit up your local coffee shop or casually crash your next-door neighbor’s birthday party. If all this fails, think of joining the next excursion to no-man’s land and adding one to its next census count.

5. FAILING TO BE PERSISTENT:

Persistence is having a vision of where you are and where you want to go and having the willpower to fulfill your dreams. When it comes to defining your vision and the life you dream of, you have two choices:
1.    Accept your circumstances as they are…
2.    Take ownership of your vision, and empower yourself with the willpower to draw a line in the sand and move forward.

If you empower yourself with the second choice, the synergy of vision and willpower will equal the persistence required to meet your goals. Learn to embrace hardships and failures, and get up when getting knocked down without blaming others or making excuses.

Motivate Your MLM Team With These 10 Tips

As the upline to your team, you play a huge role to your team’s success. Can you motivate your MLM team? Are you committed? Are you persistent? Have you found success? These are questions your team is asking day by day, regardless of if they explicitly ask you or not.
Thus you must realize that as the sponsor to your MLM team, you are the ultimate role model. The leader that your team looks up to. Your role is not to be your team’s “boss” but rather their teacher, mentor, and guide to success. Your job is to keep your team motivated and passionate about your network marketing opportunity! Here are 10 of my personal tips to motivate your MLM team:

ways to motivate your mlm team

1. Relate:

Express to your team members that you were once them! At one point, you too were brand new to network marketing and had absolutely no idea what you were doing! Tell them about all the questions you had, the hardships you endured, the first time you felt successful, that time you felt you hit rock bottom. Show them that you went through the same exact challenges yet achieved so many accomplishments. Prove to your team members how happy you are today and how successful you are now.

encouraging behaviors help motivate your mlm team
2. Encourage your team:

Always, always, always be positive and optimistic. If your team member is feeling unsure or discouraged, make that extra effort to ensure they receive the attention they need! Rehash to your team members what exactly they are working for – a lifetime of success – and inspire them to succeed.
3. Practice praise:

Everyone loves to hear a compliment, so why not compliment your team for their successes? If your team member performs well, hits a certain goal, and/or goes beyond their expectations, make sure you voice that to them! Giving praise and rewarding your team members for their accomplishments will only motivate them more!

practicing ethical behavior can motivate your mlm team
4. Be ethical:

No one looks up to someone who is unethical. If you are dishonest, untrustworthy, or manipulative, your team members will not look up to you as role model. Create the role of a positive, honest, and trustworthy leader who people can look up to.

weekly calls are a great way to motivate your mlm team
5. Have weekly calls:

Set aside a few hours of the week to have one-on-one calls if your team is small or team huddles if you have a larger team. This allows you to keep track of your team members, their milestones, and their goals. It also allows your team to ask you questions or look for guidance. These weekly calls should start in the beginning of the week, perhaps Monday morning, to set up the week for success.

holding events and company parties is another tactic to motivate your mlm team
6. Plan events:

Whether it is a summer BBQ, a happy hour, or a Christmas party, invest some time hosting your team members. By inviting fun into business, it allows your team to recognize that you are not just 100% business but also know how to entertain and enjoy. This is also great for your team members to all get together and connect! If anything, this isn’t social hour but a networking opportunity for your team members to have synergies and create opportunities to work together.

encouraging team members to stay informed is a great way to motivate your mlm team
7. Stay informed:

At the end of the day, knowledge is power. Everyone loves to learn something new – whether it is interesting news, a simple life hack, a destination city, or a secret hole-in-the-wall eatery with amazing food. By opening your mind to learning new things and staying informed with today’s news, you allow yourself to be a source of information to your team. When you share your knowledge with your team members, they will always remember you as the leader who knew everything about everything.
8. Make it personal:

Show your team member that they aren’t just a “colleague,” or a simple work relationship. Engage with your team member and make it a point to find out more — what their hobbies and interests are. Are they dating? Do they have a family? Are they religious? What do they enjoy doing outside of work? Show genuine interest in your team members and their lives outside of work and they will truly appreciate you as their leader.

encourage personal development to motivate your mlm team
9. Encourage personal development:

Always look out for books, podcasts, articles, or interviews that your team members can learn from. No matter how successful, encouraging, or charismatic you are, it always helps to have information coming from another source! If you find that a new book (such as Organic Networker) was just released and could really help educate and motivate your team, share that with them! You can even go so far as to buying them these books, a magazine subscription, or helping to support their personal growth and development because if the succeed, you succeed.

rewarding your team is a great tactic to motivate your mlm team
10. Reward your team:

Incentives are everything nowadays! You hear it everywhere:
Buy one, get one free!
Act now and get 20% off!
Refer a friend and get $100 credit!
Incentives such as these motivate people to act fast and act now! So, recreate these incentives in your team to motivate them to work hard and get results. Even if it’s something as small as a $20 gift card to Starbucks or as big as a free trip for 2 to Cabo San Lucas, incentivize your team members and reward them for spectacular performance!
One thing to keep in mind is that no matter what, you cannot motivate anyone to do anything. Motivation comes from within. So, it is best to find team members who are self-motivated and believe in themselves. If anything, your job is to inspire your team members! Use these tips to keep your team passionate and inspired.

Curious How The Top Multilevel Marketing Professionals Create A Productive Home Office? Read

Many say that multilevel marketing professionals are living the dream; working at home allows for convenience and comfortability, never having to be at a certain place by a certain time to be overseen by a certain supervisor.
I’ve been working at my home office for years and have enjoyed it immensely. Although coffee shops and internet cafes provide a relaxing atmosphere and are great places to network, there is nothing better than having your own space in the comfort of your own home.
For that reason, I encourage you to create the most productive and organized home office to ensure efficiency. Here are my top 5 tips to creating this space:

1. Purchase a large desk with multiple drawers
The best way to get organized is to have the perfect desk! By having a sizable desk, you will have plenty of room for your laptop, keyboard, mouse, and other electronics such as a landline phone, monitor, and printer. My suggestion is to find an L-shaped desk that allows you to have separate work spaces.
Another tip is to make sure to get a desk with multiple drawers. Reserve the small drawers for office supplies and smaller items. For the bigger drawers, you can organize presentations, important files, and other supporting materials for your network marketing business. Multilevel marketing professionals often have many expenses to keep track of in terms of tax purposes. For this reason, you want to organize all financial matters into files and keep them in a drawer solely dedicated to finances.
By organizing your work into appropriate drawers, multilevel marketing professionals know where everything is at all times. Keep your desk clutter free and your mind will be focused!

2. Find a high quality chair
As a multilevel marketing professional working from home, you will spend a significant amount of time sitting in front of your desk sending emails and making phone calls. Make sure to buy an ergonomic chair that encourages good posture and mobility. In terms of color, I do encourage a black or white chair to keep it simplistic
I also highly suggest a chair with wheels so you are not stuck in one spot. A mobile chair allows you to move and stretch out after you’ve been sitting down for hours on end. By investing your money into a nice chair that provides comfort and support, you will avoid backaches and fatigue.

3. Natural lighting & office lighting
If you have a certain room or section of your home that receives the most daylight, I encourage multilevel marketing professionals to make this space their office. By having good natural lighting, you organically feel awake and focused.
Of course, daylight only goes for so long so I suggest you invest in daylight lightbulbs as opposed to the soft white or fluorescent bulbs. These ones imitate the sun and make you feel wide awake even if its 9 pm. By having proper lighting, multilevel marketing professionals can get their work done without feeling tired or having sore eyes.

4. Keep your office ventilated
The last thing you want to feel is that you are trapped in your office. Make sure your office space has some type of natural ventilation, whether it is a window or a sliding glass door, you want to ensure you have plenty of air circulating throughout the room.
A good idea is to also invest in a nice fan that has several settings to tune to you, no matter the time of the day or the season. By promoting ventilation, you will have a breathable room and your productivity will boost!

5. Bring life to your office
It is inevitable that living things can promote health and happiness. Have you noticed that in most hospitals, there are plants and flowers in every single room? These living things stimulate life and productivity and multilevel marketing professionals should utilize this in their home office as well.
I encourage you to find a nice full-length plant to keep in the corner of your office. If your budget allows, it is always nice to have fresh flowers on a desk as well. When you see life every day, you subconsciously feel more content and motivated.

Follow these simple tips and you will see a dramatic increase in efficiency. By keeping your office organized, you can focus on what truly matters in order to boost your multilevel marketing business. Enjoy your office!

5 Time Management Tactics All Top Leaders Swear By

As the leader of your own network marketing business, you’ve probably already realized you have more than enough on your plate, and sometimes it can be stressful or even too much. This certainly isn’t an ordinary career where you only hold one position and are expected to carry out a certain number of duties and responsibilities day in and day out. As a network marketer, you are in charge of it all – essentially, you are a “one-man show”; thus effective time management is crucial to the overall success of your business.
Considering that you probably spend the majority of your time networking, whether it’s looking for, meeting with or following up with prospects, attending company events and/or conference calls, calling team members, etc., you always need to make sure you’re well prepared for each of these situations and don’t overwhelm yourself.
By implementing a few time management strategies that have been proven time and time again, you’ll be able to get everything done with extra time to spare for your own personal needs.

1. Set goals and write lists
Everyone in their lifetime has written a list at one point or another. Whether it’s a list of groceries to get from the store or personal errands to run –  lists are effective in clearly identifying exactly what you need. If you haven’t already started making lists for your business, now is better than ever for you to start. Creating lists will allow you to pinpoint exactly what tasks you need to get done in order to reach your goals.
To establish your goals, first start by writing down a list of your goals for the year in order for your business to thrive. For example, you may have “recruit 100 prospects this year” as one of your goals.
The next step is to break this yearlong list into something more manageable. Create a list of what you can accomplish this month in order to reach that goal. For example, your list could be “recruit 8 prospects this month”.
From here, you can separate your list into what you need to get done this week. In order to hit that goal, you will need to recruit 2 people per week. Prioritize what is most important to reach your goals and write this out in your list. Make a weekly habit to create this list every Sunday so you can visualize how your week is going to play out.
After you create this list, you can make a daily to-do list every morning to identify exactly which tasks need to be completed that day. Once you have the bigger picture in mind and by separating it into manageable tasks, you will easily figure out what needs to be done today to reach your goals.

2. Plan ahead
Now that you have these lists created, you know exactly what needs to be done. If your list includes recruiting 20 people per week, you will have to schedule this into your life.
And so, my biggest tip to you is to utilize a calendar or planner. When I started in this profession over two decades ago, we didn’t have the modern conveniences of iPhones or laptops, so we used actual handheld planners and calendars. I would suggest you take advantage of your laptop’s calendar and sync it with your phone that way you will always have it with you to plan ahead. Since the majority of your time is spent scheduling meetings or calls, it’s important to always stay ahead and make sure your calendar notifies you of your next upcoming event. It would be a shame if you forgot about your 2:00 meeting with the next potential superstar distributor.
Although it might sound obvious, make it a habit to add any notes about the person or meeting scheduled in your calendar that you don’t want to forget. You might think you will remember, but with so many moving parts during your day, it’s always best to document everything. When you make this a habit, you are instilling proactive behavior and it also helps when you forget where you asked your prospect to meet or the name of the prospect you are meeting up with, you won’t have to go skimming through your e-mails, text messages, and notes frantically wondering where you wrote down what you can’t remember.

3. Don’t overbook yourself
Whatever you do, always avoid overbooking yourself. It does not make any sense to have 5 meetings scheduled back-to-back in one day. Think about it; you want at least a thirty-minute window before and after each prospect meeting so you can compensate if they show up early, show up late, want to talk longer than the 30-minute meeting you had planned, and have enough time to prep for the meeting and reflect after. If you have a 30-minute meeting scheduled with a prospect at 1PM, make sure to not schedule your next meeting any earlier than 2. The last thing you want to do is rush. Again, I know it sounds evident, but I’ve seen this mistake happen time and time again and it just isn’t worth it.
No matter what, you should always try to stay within the window you had planned for your meeting. If your prospect or team member seems to keep going off track, reroute the direction of the conversation to what was planned so you can effectively utilize your time.

4. Create templates
Because you have the same meetings, phone calls, and email interactions frequently, spend some time making templates. If you regularly have one-on-one phone calls with your team members, create a standing agenda that you use with each team member to make your meetings more time efficient and to the point.
For example, a standing agenda could be:
1. Actions from last meeting
2. Updates in recruiting
3. Planned events or upcoming travel
4. Questions or requests for help
5. This week’s top 3 goals
By having an agenda, you can drive the conversation and ensure the meeting stays on topic.
I also highly suggest creating email templates.  If you find yourself generally sending the same e-mail content to team members or potential prospects, it makes no sense to rewrite these over and over again. Create a simple template that you can incorporate into each e-mail but leave room to add a personal touch to it so it doesn’t sound so automated.

5. Delegate and automate
Let’s be real, some tasks are just not necessary for you to do yourself nor are they really worth your time. If you can’t afford to waste time cleaning your house every week, doing your own laundry, grocery shopping, etc., delegate these out to someone else! Decide how much an hour is worth to you and evaluate if it is cheaper to pay someone else for an hour of their life instead.
If you have trouble keeping organized, it would be a good investment to hire someone to do some personal assistance for you. Even one hour a day to schedule your meetings and prepare your calendar for you could be life-changing! If you absolutely need someone to go over what meetings you have scheduled for the day and what you need in order to be prepared, you should outsource to have an assistant help you. There are several virtual assistants online that can help with general duties such as these.
You can also save time by automating other tasks as well. Instead of worrying about the same bill each month, sign up for auto pay. Deposit checks and send money using your bank’s mobile app instead of stopping at the nearest branch. Grocery shop online using Amazon Fresh and have it delivered to your door rather than spending an hour at the store. Even if each of these tasks only take an hour or so, you are gaining extra hours to utilize into growing your business instead.

As you can see, there are many ways to effectively utilize your time and create processes for all of your tasks. Implement these strategies today and you will see a major change in the way you handle your business, plus you will feel a sense of relief knowing your time is managed and organized effectively.

4 Traits All Successful MLM Professionals Have

What determines successful MLM professionals? Certainly, many factors play into the success of an MLM professional’s business. It may be that they joined the right MLM company at the right time or that their mentor introduced them to the right network and opportunities. While this is true, the internal factors that only you can control are what you need to focus on in order to grow.
Now when I say internal factors, I’m not talking about an excess of wealth, a preexisting network of friends and family, or ridiculously good looks. Although these factors can certainly help with your MLM business, they are not essential in becoming a successful MLM professional. Innate abilities and learned characteristics are the most important factors in becoming successful MLM professionals. The best part is that these skills can always be learned and improved!
After 22 years in the network marketing industry, I find that the following 4 traits and skills are the most crucial for all successful MLM professionals:
1. Tenacity
As an entrepreneur, MLM professionals need to assert persistence and perseverance throughout their career. Much of MLM is recruiting prospects which can be difficult and draining at times. All too often you may hear numerous objections that people give as to why they don’t want to join your MLM opportunity. However, if youknow how to overcome your prospect’s top objections and assert your confidence in your business, you will succeed!
Imagine that you have a 9am meeting with a potential prospect. Immediately, he expresses disapproval and is unwilling to hear you out. Rather than be discouraged and give up, be persistent! End your meeting with a friendly smile and firm handshake; don’t come across disappointed or angry. Tell him you’ll follow up at a later date to see how he is doing and make sure to add this into your notes and calendar. Who knows, maybe a month from now, he will be in a completely different situation in which your MLM opportunity will work perfectly for him.
After jotting down relevant notes, reset, reflect, and head to your 10:30 appointment with your next potential prospect with a strong and resilient mindset.
Instead of allowing the failure from one meeting discourage the productivity of the rest of your day, practice tenacity in all situations and you will start to see failure as a great learning opportunity rather than negativity in your life.

2. Charisma
As an MLM professional, most of your time is spent networking, prospecting, and following up — essentially just talking to other people. Thus, excellent communication skills are required to be a successful MLM professional. Successful network marketers are charismatic and can always capture the interest of anyone in the room.
Naturally an introvert? Not to worry. Practice some of these skills in the comfort of your own home and you will be an extroverted social butterfly in no time!
First, I suggest that you take a good look in the mirror and analyze your facial expressions. If you didn’t know yourself, would you start a conversation with yourself? Do you seem friendly and approachable? Or do you seem intimidating and reserved? If the latter is true for you, try to consciously change your facial expression or body language to appear more open to conversation to those who you don’t know. Smile. Don’t cross your arms. Ease up. Relax.
Next, practice “meeting” yourself. How would you start off the conversation? Directly approach yourself and say “Hi, my name is Kosta. I’d like to tell you about my MLM business”? Probably not the best approach.
Practice greeting yourself in the mirror and sparking up a conversation. Sure, you may feel weird at first but after a few tries, your approach will improve and words will come naturally. How do you think public figures give the greatest speeches? They say, practice makes perfect. Therefore, practice conversing with yourself and how you would go about meeting a prospect and you will eventually perfect the practice.
Finally, I recommend that you record yourself on your phone or on the computer and pretend you are having a call with a prospect. Go back and forth in the conversation and see if you run out of things to say or if the conversation flows the way you intend.
Listen to the recording once you are finished. Did you notice that your voice tends to be quiet when you are talking about serious matters? Do you sound confident in yourself or does it seems like you are always asking questions and are unsure about your MLM business? Use this recording to improve the tone and power of your voice.
Practice these tips every morning and night for five minutes and I assure you that more and more people will strike conversations with you. Once you incorporate these practices into your daily life, you will become a charismatic MLM professional in no time!

3. Time management skills
Another skill that is crucial to the success of an MLM entrepreneur is time management. Network marketing is a unique profession in that you control your own schedule. But of course, with any other profession, you must utilize your time as best as possible to gain success! With that said, all successful MLM professionals exert efficiency and don’t like to waste a single second.
One of my best pieces of advice is to get a planner. Perhaps you like one that is handheld, or you prefer an electronic planner such as the calendar in your iPhone. Whichever you select, make sure it works best for you!
Use your planner to schedule out all of your meetings, calls, travel, conferences, and networking events. When you see windows of free time, decide what makes the most sense to fill it. If next Wednesday, you have a 9am meeting downtown and don’t have anything until 4pm downtown, it only makes sense for you to stay downtown and carry out tasks that haven’t already been scheduled. Ask your team member who lives downtown if they want to grab lunch to go over some of her opportunities. Spend some time at the local coffee shop downtown and see if you can network there! Utilize your time as best as possible so you’re not stuck driving countless hours because you couldn’t manage your time efficiently.
If you haven’t already, check out my top tips for time management to learn even more tactics that can help streamline your MLM business.
4. Passion
In order to become a successful MLM professional, there is no doubt that you must be passionate about your business! They say, “do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life.
Determine what exactly your MLM business offers you and make it your goal to show others the same. Be passionate about what you are offering to your prospects: a life of unlimited opportunity, wealth, and income! If you want to make a change in people’s lives, show your passion and it will emulate to all those around you.
Fuel this same passion in each and every one of your prospect and team member’s hearts and they will become just as driven to becoming a successful MLM professional as you. With a resilient, fearless, and motivated team, there is no other possibility then success.

Train yourself to recognize these traits and make time in your daily routine to enhance these skills. By taking just a few minutes of each day to implement the tips I suggested, I assure you that your MLM opportunity will become easier and grow faster than before.
